Astrology
Astrology is an immense field of study and practice. My own practice focuses on personal identity (birth chart), current circumstances in the development of the self (transits to the birth chart), soul evolution (progressed chart), and relationships – romantic, family, co-workers, and friendships (partner charts). Astrology is founded on astronomical fact, but I do not consider the practice of astrology a science; science is too narrow. Rather I see it as a practice of synchronicity through narrative (your personal narrative and your cosmic narrative) for self-reflection, self-awareness, and self-criticism.
Birth Chart
The foundation for personal astrology is the birth chart. You are a unique expression in the universe, even if you have one or more birth siblings or one or more concurrent births in the same location at the same time. While you will share a similar energetic celestial story with those born at the same time and location, you will create a unique story. The story you create is always measured against your energetic celestial story. You are flowing with that energy, denying it, challenging it, hiding from it, overindulging it, embracing it, manifesting it, and on and on depending on the circumstances of your life and your life choices. To erect your birth chart I need your:
Birth Time (birth certificate is best, memory is faulty)
Birth Date
Birth Location
**If you do not have the exact time of birth, a best guess is the starting point. From there we can work on a chart rectification to determine the best time to use for your birth chart.
Birth Chart with Transits
Your birth chart is your foundation story. Transiting planets, where the planets are in the sky today and how they relate to your birth chart, help you understand the cycles and rhythms of the universe – the story of today affecting your foundation story. We look at the outer planets because they exert influence on your story over extended periods of time (in years, not days or months) and with key cycles in mind (Saturn’s return around 30, Uranus’ opposition around 41, and Chiron’s return around 50). Transits help you think about and explore certain areas of your life (the houses where those planets are transiting) or key activations (aspects with your natal planets).
Progressed Chart
Your Progressed Chart is the chart (in days) from your date and time of birth equal to the number of years since your birth. If you are 40 when your Progressed Chart is calculated it will be a chart of your astrology 40 days from the time of your birth. In this chart we focus on the inner planets and points (Sun to Mars) to look at your soul’s evolution. You may be born an Aries, but over time your Sun (and thus You) are meant to progress into Taurus, then Gemini, and if you are especially long lived, Cancer. Each progression of each planet is an opportunity to evolve your soul.
Partner Charts
The partner charts explore your narrative in relation to (synastry) and combined with (composite) another person’s narrative. The synastry chart looks at two charts by overlapping them and observing where the planets and points of chart activate the houses and planets/points of the other chart. You can learn the touch points of your narrative in relation to the narrative of your lover, friend, co-worker, sibling, or child/parent. The composite chart is the chart the two of you create when your charts are integrated (using a midpoint method). All paired people create an energetic identity displayed in the composite chart.
